COME FLY WITH US!
CHARITY FLYING DAY 13 SEPTEMBER 2008

The FLY NAVY HERITAGE TRUST exists to support the Royal Navy Historic Flight (RNHF), Fleet Air Arm church, St.Bartholomews in Yeovilton village, and the Fleet Air Arm Museum. One of the fundraising initiatives we have taken in the past is to organise a fleet of privately owned aircraft to offer members of the public a flight in exchange for a donation to our charity. All monies paid in go to the charity and will ultimately be used to support flying the RNHF fleet.

This activity is approved by the CAA and aircraft have to be on a private or public Certificate of Airworthiness. Flights in aircraft such as Dragon Rapide, Broussard, Auster, Chipmunk, CAP.10, Tiger Moth and Stampe* will consist of a large circuit around the local area lasting around 10 or 15 minutes. We should be able to cater for most people, though not every aeroplane will be ideal for everyone. For instance smaller children would be unable to fly in a Chipmunk or Tiger Moth because they would be unable to be restrained properly and have to sit in a cockpit on their own. They would therefore fly in a side by side Cessna 120, TB.10 or the like. Older or infirm people might find getting into or out of one of the older classic two seaters a bit difficult, so would perhaps find the Dragon Rapide or Broussard easier.

Lunch will consist of a bap from the ‘Butty man’ filled with egg and bacon or sausage or a Cornish Pastie and tea/coffee, with an ice cream for pud. During the lunch break a short but exclusive flying display will be staged.

As well as a diverse fleet of aircraft to fly, there will be a static park that you can browse around at your leisure and chat to pilots and engineers. The ticket includes entry to the Fleet Air Arm Museum which you may also browse round in your own time during its normal opening times.

The donation to our charity - the Fly Navy Heritage Trust - remains £100 a ticket which includes a flight in an aircraft (subject to serviceability with £50 for a second ride if you want one, perhaps in a different aircraft type - book second rides on the day) and lunch. Accompanying family members who do not wish to fly will be very welcome for a donation of £10 to cover lunch only.

Regrettably tickets can only be paid for by cash or cheque, made payable to "
The Fly Navy Heritage Trust". Please click the button below to download an application form which must be completed and sent along with payment to the following address:
